In response to the feat in a tweet, Idowu Olayinka, UI vice-chancellor, highlighted the teaching, science, knowledge transfer, and international outlook requirements of THE.

Although statistics for 2016, 2017 , and 2018 ranked the institution in 601-800, 801-1000, and 801-1000 respectively, UI correspondingly appeared in the band 601-800 and 501-600 in 2019 and 2020.
