UI Ranked Among Top 500 Varsities Globally, Named West Africa’s Best

THE published its rankings for the year 2021 on Tuesday, whereby UI appeared in the 401-500 band and the highest in West Africa, a classification that comes as the best institution over the years according to its previous figures.

In response to the feat in a tweet, Idowu Olayinka, UI vice-chancellor, highlighted the teaching, science, knowledge transfer, and international outlook requirements of THE.

"The World University Rankings for Times Higher Education are the only global success tables assessing research-intensive universities in all of their main missions," the statement said.

"We recognize with appreciation the assistance of the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, Mallam Adamu Adamu Federal Ministry of Education, and its agencies.

"We believe in the years ahead we can always count on your invaluable support and motivation. Congratulations on UI Initiative to all of us.

THE made its rankings using 13 success metrics "carefully tuned" to include comparisons,

 

Although statistics for 2016, 2017 , and 2018 ranked the institution in 601-800, 801-1000, and 801-1000 respectively, UI correspondingly appeared in the band 601-800 and 501-600 in 2019 and 2020.
